Testing my extensions wiring today and noticed cpc fails continuity. Howevery I have continuity from outward leg to main earthing bar in CU

Any ideas how ?

I did remove a couple of other cables of similar size to see if that was the case but ran out of time, will try again tomorrow. Wasn't overly bothered as all other tests were fine

Interesting comment.

So if this is new wiring in your extension you are testing, and you did the install, then fault finding it should be very easy..... how many sockets etc on the circuit?

Is this a twin and cpc installation? have you managed to identify the individual cables? if yes then it's probably a loose or missing connection at one of the sockets, or a bad connection during testing.
What were the r1 and rn readings, how many sockets are involved ? sorry if these questions have been asked before.

If you did end to end on the CPC and failed to get continuity and then get continuity on one half doesn’t that answer your question?

Continuity test of RFC conductors, is one I breath a huge sigh of relief when I get suitable results.

You need to go round and test each accessory, and find out where the failed termination is.

Easy girls been busy, resolved by trying all the other CPC's on the board. I knew it was there as i said before as i was getting continuity between CPC and board

^^

I still don't understand. End to end continuity tests are the first to do on a new or a modified ring circuit.

Surely you know which are the correct ends?

Ah, must have miss led you some what, I didn't complete the wiring in my extension just testing after adding a couple of points in the kitchen.

Seems you're not the only one to get his wires crossed, eh?

but....if you knew it was there, why did you ask?
