I'm on a job that the previous sparks made a hash of and I'm sorting everything out and finishing the rewire. The client wants to put a sauna in next year and he requires a supply for it. Does anyone have any recommendations as to suppliers or know what size load I am best accounting for the supply? Many thanks PME

3-6kw I'd guess depends on room size etc.

The cable will vary depending on the location and size of the sauna but if you are installing for an unknown load then for a sauna they are very unlikely to exceed 8kW (generally about 3kW) so you could install a 6mm² cable up to the point outside the proposed room/location, then you can leave a connection point there ready for a heat resistant cable to feed the heater in the sauna.
Even is it is a 3kW heater you can then just put in an appropriate MCB for the load, if it does turn out to be a huge heater then you are covered and (so long as the run is not huge) the cost difference is only a few pounds and cheaper than reinstalling a cable.

Thanks very much guys, that pretty much confirmed my suspicions and as the run is only 15m so it would make sense to just put a 6mm in.

Regards,
PME
