when wiring a security light the type with mounting bracket, do you run the cable inside the bracket to the wiring box or outside the bracket ?
i understand that it depends on cable run but i usually try to run it inside the bracket to allow for adjustment.

Do you take the flex to an IP rated switch or box by the side of light or in to the house?

I usually terminate T&E or singles or what ever into an IP rated box the take 3 core flex to light via a stuffing gland.

If it's from the loft, then terminal box accessible on wall inside loft with flex thro a hole, drip-loop and into glanded lamp.
