Hi
im looking to replace my old b&d workmate
I have read reviews on the new b&d workmates
and they don't seem to be very well made
can anyone recommend any work benches they have experience
with that are sturdy before I waste my hard earned cash
thanks

try your local car boot sales. get a good 2nd hand one for a tenner or less.

Haven't tried them personally, but these look good...

Triton SuperJaws Portable Clamping System SuperJaws MK

Wish I had seen them before spending out on a B&D workmate and a bench vice seperately.

Gaz :)

I replied a post about 3 years ago on this subject: It depends what type of work you're doing. I bought a Triton SuperJaws a year or so ago. Not really a workbench, more like a vice on three legs, so stable on any surface. I made up a base for my mitre saw and another plain worktop which are just clamped in the vice. Heavy, but better than a workmate for some jobs. There are some videos of it in use on YouTube.

As a small work table:

As a cable spool:

One of these stops the drums falling off one end:

^^ Geez, is you hobby installing roads in your spare time? Just looking at the machinery in your garage :).
