Anyone able to help on the following...

Short circuit calculation & current carrying capacity of:

50x10mm2 copper busbar
&
80x6mm2 copper busbar

One for the brain boxes..

I take it the busbars are part of a bus bar chamber, does the information supplied with the chamber not give any details?
 
Depends on how they are braced and how far the bracing is apart.

Any photo's, I'll be able to give you a good idea.

As for a documented level, the only way of proving it is to test it. Or prove it's built to a type tested design.
 
A rough rule of thumb and assuming you have copper busbars operating at 50° is to allow 1-1.6A for every 1sq mm of copper but so many factors come into play.
 
Could you tell me a little more please?

a. ac or dc?

b. a picture/sketch of the busbar arrangement with distances between centres of each busbar and location of fixings.

c. what energises the busbars? The DNO mains(cutout size A?), a battery (electrochemical type and Ah?), a generator(kVA and prime mover?), a transformer(kVA?).

d. what ventilation do the busbars have?

e. what voltage and frequency?
