After a fun day testing got sent to move a shower pull cord, easier said then done, after discussing the options with the home owner they then said 'I never turn it off, can't you just put it in the cupboard of the room next door (which backs on to the shower). My instinct was to say not a good idea as its not obviously accessable near the shower, but as the customer asked for it is there any reason why not (too tired to think straight).

it's an isolator for maintenance. stick it in the cupboard. it's not as if the home owner's going to say " ouch the shower is too hot, where's the bloody isolator?"

Too many people think the shower switch is to be used every time they have a shower, as Tel said it is for maintenance.

Its for domestic use, and the home owners will know its location.
As others have said its for isolation as and when necessary simple as.
Don't create a problem for yourself where non exists.
Fit it in the airing cupboard !! go on live on the edge.

Bloody shower pull cords, chamged my sisters about 8 months ago as the neutral had burnt out in side it some how. Now it has stopped working all together now so this weekend I am just going to remove it completely and never have any agro from it again.

Personally I prefer the switch in the cupboard, it's less temptation for customers to turn off the shower each time under full load using their pull cord.......

Of course not that anyone does that.

What is the shower kw rating and cable csa out of interest?

Pull cords are ghastly anyway. I only fit dual pole 40a switches with a neon anyway. I either situate them outside next to the switch or in the nearest adjacent cupboard.

On a job recently, 5 pull cords dangled from the ceiling, of a small shower room; shower, lights, light over sink, towel rail and an under sink water heater.
I expected to see a mini Tarzan.
