Hi everyone need a bit of guidance, I have a shower to wire in an upstairs flat. It is an old fuse wire dist board therefore I am installing a shower consumer unit. The run of cable is only approx 4 metres as dist board is just on other side of bathroom wall. On the consumer unit I am going to install it has a 40A 30mA RCD and a 40A MCB will this RCD be suitable or will it need to be upgraded to a 63A 30mA RCD. The shower is only 8.5KW and will be wired in 10mm.

Thanks

Thanks timbo I was gonna use 6mm but just thought if they ever upgraded the shower!

use 6mm, then if they want a bigger shower at a later date, you got yourself another job.

It's in his user name :) (Northern Ireland) pronounced locally as Norn Iron
