I've recently had a phone call off a potential client, asking for there recently refurbished house to be electrically signed off as they have sold the house.
I think what's happened is they have had a electrician in to rewire it and modify the circuits but they wasn't part P.

I am wondering if I could do a EICR instead of a EIC?

Yes do an EICR however you should mention to them that you may have to code some items as dangerous or needs improvement and there is no guarantee the installation will be of a standard which would pass a test, cover yourself before you start or you may not get paid LOL

Just had a phone call they have found someone to sign the work off without an inspection ect .
They asked me to use the results the "electrician" who installed it recorded ... Big No no

I always explain an EICR to customers as....

It's like the MOT on your car:

It can FAIL too you know!!

Some (especially landlords) think they pay and get a certificate regardless!

How do you actually fail the installation tho?
You can only put code's down and recommend that remedial work is required.
They could just say I'm happy that there is faults and I'm not getting them done ..?

you don't fail and installation. You record it as unsatisfactory with either danger present or potentially dangerous faults.

Semantics I know but it is up the client to decide what to do with the report......... ;)

I work on a site as a contractor and any code 1's we have to lock the circuit off and display a safety sign but you can appreciate this can't be done in the domestic world.
