So I have been seeing a lot of the highlighted text in threads recently that links to products. If I hover over it informs me it is powered by skimlinks.

I used to only see this on the forum in older threads for some reason but now it seems to be popping up more often.

Is this a feature of the forum that can be turned off or is it browser related ?

i have a ghostery plugin installed on firefox browser, it says skimlinks was found on the site and blocked. same for google analytics and facebook connect.

[h=2]In Their Own Words[/h] "Skimlinks creates native monetization solutions for publishers, rewarding them for any e-commerce they drive by automatically turning product links and references into trackable affiliate links. Integrated with more than 20,000 merchants, Skimlinks processes 300 million clicks a month on over 1.5 million sites around the web. Our technology helps publishers like Time Inc, Gawker Media, Condé Nast, Hearst and The Huffington Post earn revenue and gain insights from their commerce-related content."

I'm not sure what's going on with skimlinks but I noticed it the other day when I used someone's PC that only had Firefox installed. I ran the page script through the developers console and I think the skimlinks scripts were coming from the site server so I can only assume Dan has got it enabled. Skimlinks has been installed on the forum software fort a long time but there used to be an option to switch it off in your settings. I don't get the links when using Opera which is my default browser on all my PC's.

I'll ask Dan next time he's around.
