Hi,

Does anyone know where you can get small compact skeleton board (I need dual load 8 way max). I have seen Wylex do some but these are two tall for what I need as trying to replace old wylex board in ex council house and am limited by the existing housing unit.

Thanks

Crabtree do dual boards.
whatvi have done in the past is buy some mdf to fit around the old board box, cut a slot, use existing box to join cables, bring new cables through slot and mount dual board onto it!

Workedva treat looked good and all new colours in new board!

If you are trying to replace a skeleton board in an old mantel unit, you need to remove the lower metal shelf by drilling out the spot welds. Then wylex or MK skeleton board will fit.

Spot on, this is the only way you will be able to fit a modern dual skeleton CU in a Mantel cabinet. The skeleton unit's normally come with a bottom base plate if the skeleton is a direct replacement for a mantel unit!!.
Don't forget to replace all the rubber grommets to cable entries into the mantel unit, as they will probably be in a bad condition!! lol!!

Can't remember having problems removing the bottom shelf, when i did the same job on my parents and sister's ex council house re-wires. As i remember they were small spot welds, ...think all i used was a sharp chisel!!
