Hi, apologies in advance, you must get a tonne of these questions.
I wanted to replace my current dimmer switch with a smart dimmer switch, kids cant reach light socket so thought it would be fun for them.
current wiring in the dimmer is yellow to L1 and I have a blue wire with a brown sleeve and a red wire both going into C. Does that mean my neutral is yellow? I'm a bit confused, read something about a blue wire with brown sleeve is a hot wire.
The smart switch requires a negative and 3 wires in total.
Any assistance wold be much appreciated.
Thanks
Mark

No, The Neutral is not Yellow.
You don't have a Neutral at the switch.
You may be able to get one there as you appear to have a spare wire in the 3 core and earth cable, but you'd need to investigate the other end of the cable.

Thanks for the reply, OK I better get someone in then, was just confused because the wiring instructions for the current dimmer switch say negative goes in L1, which is my yellow wire. The current dimmer works perfectly well. At the ceiling I have standard red, black & green.
