Hello

Can someone please help?

I have a HomePlug LAN - which is a chunky device that plugs into power socket to provide internet throughout the house.

The trouble is there is insufficient clearance from the plug socket to the floor. I could move the socket, but I wonder if there is any adapter available to reverse the socket? So that the device would be plugged in upside down...... There's plenty of clearance from the socket to the ceiling....

Any ideas welcomed! Thanks

Im not aware of a device that does what you want it to do, and personally I wouldn't go to the expense of moving sockets to accommodate a plug in device. If aesthetics aren't an issue, you could just use a short extension lead?

I wouldn't recommend turning a socket upside down. Besides looking naff, any non-moulded plugtops plugged in would lose their IP rating as the flex outlet would be facing upwards!

wireless these days...

i dont quite understand these devices that use power circuits for internet when theirs wireless... am i missing something and wherre is appropriate to use these ?

Old houses i suppose with thick walls although wireless access points would be better

They are used to "extend" a wireless signal by using the RFC/Radial cables as a carrier for the signal. The signal is then picked up again at the appropriate socket when another router/repeater (Homeplug) is plugged in. They are for larger houses where the wireless signal gets lost or where the older houses have proper walls and the signal cannot get through them!

The electrical cables just act as a very long ethernet cable.

Oh and they work very well too!

BT use them if your phone socket isn't near your tv, it connects the set top box to phone line...

Can connect non wireless items to the network like tv's...

Sent from my Xperia S using next doors WIFI
