Socket identification

Hi and thanks in advance for any help!

My new home has an odd socket with a switch next to it in the kitchen. I’d like to put a tv up on the wall but there’s no ordinary power socket nearby.

Is this some kind of odd power socket? I would never have thought it was power but it has a switch next to it!

Its a switched fused spur. Your electrician could check it out to see if there is anything connected to the load side. If there isn't then the TV could be wired into it. If the TV has a moulded plug that you don't want to cut off then it's likely the switched fused spur could be changed for a socket. Cheap job for a jobbing electrician.

That unit is a switched fused spur, probably controlling a single socket under the worktop.

Just joking, like Pete999 said, look for a 'normal' socket below, plug something in, and see whether the switch next to your Watjumakalit turns it on or off. Ask someone who was born in the Eighties or earlier about the socket on the right
