are you doing a PIR? if so i would give it a code 1 or 2.

When you say fail I take it you mean on a PIR?
I would certainly give this a code 2 minimum, it's a bit of a silly place :p

yeah its a pir, just thought extremly hazardous to occupant therefore would warrant a code 1 and a fail due to the situation do you guys think this is correct or not

I'm not completely sure but I don't think that the 16th like the 17th gives a distance, if i'm wrong then I will gladly like to be put right, but there is something in the back of my mind that says 300mm

In Scotland I believe the building regs make it 300mm for a sink, but again I'm not sure of that. I know though that the BRB don't give you a distance and therefore you have to work to the regulations covered in 522.

I think you have to do a risk assement here. If the socket is RCD protected then I may just not code it. but mention in a report that it should be moved under regs 522

If it is not RCD protected but the diconnection times are met then perhaps a code 4, again with a recommendation that it be moved under regs 522

Is the bonding correct and in place where required?

is the socket outlet of a suitable type for the location?

is the socket rcd protected?

Is the equipotential zone maintained, kitchen floor not earthy

No Reg covers distance of a socket to a sink, theres guidance in guidance document p and other documents.

It 300 mm from sink , 300 mm from cooker hobs ,but its a guidance as has been said if its RCD protected then realy no real danger as the RCD will operate if any thing is dropped into the sink whilst plugged in but not right so id code 2 it requires improvement

i would agree with code 2 as long as RCD protected. if no RCD i would give it a code 1. rather be too strict than too lenient. CYA

The 300mm rule applies vertically as well as horizontally, and you should also consider whether a draining board and a sink are the same.
A socket-outlet above a draining board could be further than 300mm from the sink.
Then you should to my mind also consider whether there is a dishwasher, and perhaps the size of the family. Would a socket-outlet near to a sink where the sink is hardley ever used be as unsafe as where the sink is used frequently?
At the end of the day, it is your opinion as to what is safe that counts, and rule of thumbs are just that.
