Evening all, is there a reg you would quote to help convince a client why you don't want to fit a socket in very close proximity to a wood burning stove. Assume the client doesn't understand common sense !
Obviously there's issues with derating ccc of cable, damage to socket etc.

Asking for a a friend (no, genuinely!)

I don't know about the layout /design or the type of burner, but within 200mm ish I think

Tbh it really does depend on the type of burner.

Some put relatively little heat out in to the room mostly heating water for DHW and heating

I would say that is too close,as most of the reputable stove makers, have similar setting out distances, for siting a new stove.

Remember, there will also be a plug top and whatever cable is fitted,to cope with the heat.

Any specific regs, will want to refer to a temperature or its effect, for example, you could have the S/O right next to the stove...if the stove was never used.

Hi Approved Document J has info about combustion appliances and my quick read is "nothing combustible within 150mm of the appliance". Typically an electrical accessory will have a temperature range set by manufacturer - eg MK used to be -5C to +40C. So if it's less than 40C and more than 150mm then it may comply.
