Discuss socket testers earth loop impedance indicators in the Electrical Tools and Products area at ElectriciansForums.net

you need a value to determine whether disconnection times are going to be met.....i wouldn`t waste my time with stuff like this.....if you need to get Ze/Zs readings....then just get a loop tester....

I have one that does RCD and Earth loop, handy for just checking if an earth is present, gives earth status as good ,check or requires urgent attention, but as Glennspark says you need earthloop tester as well for readings,I just use mine as a routine check at work before any contractors use outdoor sockets.not as replacement for proper testing.

Every socket tester I have evaluated can't detect N-E faults. Socket & See are working on a unit which can detect N-E faults but it's release has been delayed to the end of the year I'm told. Those testers that "measure" ELFI in broad bands (i.e. Martindale EZ150 and EZ650 e.t.c.) have proved to be unreliable, on know installations I've had both under and over ELFI indications on socket testers.

You may find the following guidance on socket testers from the ESC interesting. Note the link to the ESC appears to down over Easter, so check it out on tomorrow.
