Anyone know of software to produce schematics of distribution boards and circuits plus sub mains etc.?

Depends on what you are trying to do and complexity. Cymap & Hevacomp are ok

Produce a map of 150 different DB over four large buildings with each DB and MCB listed and locations as a sort of master manual

Amtech does it but it will be very expensive just to use it for that.

OK well back to hacking in word or something then. Not worth a lot of expenditure.

Microsoft Visio is really good for general layouts if schematics are what you're after. If you haven't used it before there is a learning curve but it is part of the office family so shares a similar interface. Excel tables can also be embedded into your work which you can update separately and these will automatically update tables/lists in Visio.

If you can get a student version (easy especially if you have kids or family in education) then it's pretty cheap.

It's my go to software for any design layouts or drawings.
