I am a sparky, but all I want to know is where I can read some info. on solar energy and it's pros and cons. I am not looking to instal it, I just feel a bit out of the loop with modern technology. I don't want salesman spiel, just a bit of an idea what it's value is

I have never considered solar power to be viable, Yes I'm a dinosaur. but after reading posts 2 and three I am being swayed towards it, but being a pessimist I think I need to read the links a bit more to digest the info., I now see my roof wouldn't be a good choice, with technology at the moment plus living north.
I will get my head out of the sand and try to keep up to spiel with it. I'm too near to retirement age to consider going down the solar installation avenue.

Sounds like you need your own solar Pv installation

As I've mentioned earlier I'm a bit of a dinosaur, through my own ignorance, but after reading a few posts on surface area of roof required for decent installation not sure whether it's viable. Anyway I've promised myself to read as much as I can to bring myself up to date.
