Discuss some body bang on the door some body ring the bell in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

Get a company that specialises in door access etc to sort it. I doubt the hotel would be too happy to wait whilst you search the internet to find and source a replacement unit that could take a few days or longer to arrive, and might not even be the problem
may be you are correct .
I ring them in the morning and tell them the bad news .if I was not for the fault on the light out side it would not happen you should have seen the way some body wired the out side lights straight from 16amp mcb no fuse spur knout. and this a hotel .

If its a card reader there will be another box ox tricks somewhere that you may of switched off, or cleared its memory.
Could be a little box with a keypad, could be an ethernet connection to a pc, but there will be a way of programming the cards somewhere, which I have seen hooked into the lighting circuit sometimes.....
their was new card made for the opener and old card used and still knowt. by passed the card reader magnets opened it 20181012_150954.jpg

Is that a link between GND and NC? Doesn't look right to me.
+12v and GND gives the reader its power.
The switching part is between COM and NC.. Normally Closed until card is introduced, then opens for a time.

Usually no connection between the power and the switching parts?

(I cant be 100% sure, I don't know the system you've got there, or seen a diagram)
