And the first filthy minded individual that answers "Vaseline" goes to the back of the class :)
About to buy a HOLE SAW set. One of those with the dinky QR arbor to push the disk out will do nicely. My, very serious, query is "what sizes are the most useful?"
20 and 25mm for grommets and conduit perhaps but down lighters seem to be every damm size!
Your thoughts ladies and gentlemen?

Around 75-76mm is the most common LED downlighter hole size in my experience, and a good 115mm or so is handy for drilling wood or pvc soffits for fan ducting.

for drilling in steer, get good quality hole saws, usually 20mm, 25mm and 32mm will be all you need. for downlights, a set of 6 with arbout, generally 32mm - 75mm sizes about £6.99 the set.

Get a good quality stepping drill that does 6mm to 32mm for all steel and plastic. Leaves a lovely smooth edge on steel and plastic. I tend to buy a plumbers set and an electricians set which covers me for most holes. But then dammit I still find I have to buy the odd sized hole saw.

but pacing up and down Lime Street are ----- soles.

If you're doing a lot of metal stuff then you can't go wrong with these. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Q-Max-Sheet-Metal-Punch-QMA20M/dp/B0055KJGW8

Start off with a step drill then finish off using that, lovely clean edges and no mess. Very handy for tight spaces where you don't want to jab a drill bit through something expensive.

20mm,25mm,32mm,38mm and 51mm for brass bushes. 64mm for recessed PIR's. 75mm for the fire cans I use and 90mm for tilts. 114mm for 4" ducting.

I find the 114mm ones bore a bit of a slack hole for 4" grilles when using round ones as the fixing holes end up right on the edge....

sorry I also just wanted to say slack hole, its Friday :)

Ive 2 of every size from 20mm up to and including 83mm, and 1 of 105mm or thereabouts, and 1x 114mm which was the one I meant to buy when getting the 105 or thereabouts. Anyways it was way too tight for fans and grills lol
