A electrician (or so he claimed) asked me what to do with the spare rcd on a 17th edition consumer unit. I didnt know what he was on about and so inspected his consumer unit and found this. Words failed me.

He is no longer employed with us surprisingly.Spare rcd 019 - EletriciansForums.net

what!!! he saved you money!! you can now resel that rcd to another customer!! cant see the problem...!! lol...

if i am seeing what i think i am seeing the main switch does not isolate the live for half the board! where did he get his qualifications!

The main switch only isolated the half with the rcd. He was deadly serious when giving me the spare rcd, I had to tell the boss about that. Think he must have got his grading card from a dodgy website.

What qualifictions did the "electrician" claim to have?

I don't blame your boss/company for taking him on, and I admire them for getting shut of him but how did he manage to talk himself into the job?
