Thanks for the welcome! Never boring, always different. We like to mess about in the dirt and darkness. When I worked for a contractor just got bored of houses, so set a business up to do something different. We still do a few houses .....

Any advice RE: farmers and farms? I'm just quoting for my first bit of agricultural work (3 phase socket outlet for supplying a piece of gear). I think I'm getting the gist of what I've already been told which was "don't look too closely at the existing installation as it's probably a death trap"

most farmers will try and bodge things themselves before considering getting in a pro lol, a farmer once told us he would give us a lift to the pump house at the other side of the farm, we ended up being transported over rough terrain in the bucket of a tractor that was an experience..holding on for dear life lol

Ignore what you see(unless you are test&inspecting) do what you need to do correctly. Try not to make all your pounds at once, think of month on month year on year work. And dont take the p***.

there are some things that cant be ignored, even on farms , i thought the "nail for a fuse" was just a nasty rumour, till i encountered one, usually a fault with motor windings.

I have seen an old wylex board in a polythene feed bag half full of water in a milking parlour with half the old pan tile roof missing .
I was brought up on farms , for some it is a hard life and every penny counts.
