Hi, my boss is telling me to install fuse spurs on a minor works which he says involves breaking into the ring main and fitting the spur at top of stairs. I cant see a problem ! when there is no accessible ring he is now telling me to stright to the DB and fit new cable in with ring main breaker and its an addition to a circuit so it can be done on a minor works, is this right ? i beg to differ but he's saying it fine.

Can anyone please advise

you would be adding a spur at the DB. not a new circuit, so MWC is correct.

Absolutely, a spur can be added from a suitable junction, an accessory or the origin of the circuit, all of which can be certificated on a MEIWC.
