Gaz. Welcome to the forums.
Same as me, 86 to 90 worked a few years then did something completely different.
I started out self employed last year, and as yet, I'm not a member of a scheme.
I don't know if its of any true benefit, and at the moment, I cannot afford to join.
Some places that might be good customers, such as local council might demand that you need to be a member of one of them
I am in Scotland, so we don't use the Part P, but an Englishman might suggest you need to be a member of a scheme to do anything that involves P

Hello people, new to the forum
I've been an Electrician for almost 30 years, apprenticeship, from
1986 to 1990, I continued to do installation work until the late 90's then I moved to Canada, worked as a spark there for 15 years & during that time ,moved into maintenance roles.
came home in 2014 , had a few maintenance roles but decided to get back into installation work again (mainly domestic) reason being to eventually work for myself, so now I've made the plunge. just looking for advice on these NICEIC ,NAPIT schemes, do I need to join one? whats the best route?
I must admit I find this self certifying work very strange, in Canada your work is inspected by a governing body , but if that's what I need to do, so be it.
Thanks in advance

Oh.. Ok. Well that explains it.
