Storm Ophelia has well and truly arrived

Is this affecting much of the rest of the UK?

We are taking a bit of a pounding in Northern Ireland, although I think the West and the South are getting hit harder. All schools closed today and likewise tomorrow. Lots of tree's down and loads of road closures.

Orange sky from dust ,1st thing noticed , wind showing signs in evening !

Apart from the awesome light earlier today, it's just a bit gusty here in Notts.

Here's a link showing an animated map of the UK and Ireland showing wind speed etc, quite a picture at the moment! If you click on "earth" on the bottom left, you get a set of controls... you can move it forwards and back 3 hours at a time.

My sympathies if you're out west and you're affected by it.

In the last hour the wind has really picked up in Bath, its been quite mild and calm all day with nice warmth but suddenly changed.
The orange sky was nice though....
If you are in N.I or the republic then hunker down, its going to be a rough night

Up here in County Durham, it was almost dark at 2pm! Winds picking up here as well.
