Hi

Strange thing happening with next door Neighbours TV , when they switch off their Kitchen ELV(12V) down lighters x6 the TV screen goes blank for a second then comes back on , it is if the signal goes ( Sky Box ) then comes back on , the TV itself stays on .

I just do not have any idea of what it could be , both on a different circuit .

Anyone got any ideas out there .

cheers

Hi
Thanks for your reply , will check that out , could that be the case when they are both on different circuits ,and it is not effecting the TV itself , nor the Sky box , both power lights are staying green ! .

cheers

If this only happens waching SKY , may be a marginal sky Signal Level Quality.( Things growing in front of dish / cable to dish running thru kitchen ?)
Some chanels worst for it than others ?
Do they often get little pauses when it rains.
(May happen with a normal system -If thunder storm -for 30 secs ... The kind of rain wipers struggle with ...but not in rain you can walk to shop in!)

Is this Sky+? If so a brief EM spike from the ELV transformer might be effecting the WiFi signal?

Hi
Thanks for your reply , it is briefly loosing the signal to the tv period , there is nothing obtructing the dish , it comes straight outside through the wall next to tv , then up to the dish .
It is only happening when the kitchen light is switched off ! .

I was going to say is there a signal booster/amplifier wired into the lighting cct that is somehow causing an issue. But then you said the sky box is connected directly to the LNB anyway. So ignore me please!!

If there is space ,and its not a 2 way switch .
A R-C snubber network across the switch is a possible fix.
(Should pass dc IR testing ).
Maplins stock the beast ... but must be available somewhere else!
(in a more electrician friendly form ..!)
