I was just wandering as im never too sure about twin and earth being used for sub main. I know it has to be on an rcd if using t and e but personally i always use swa for underground. But if its in a plastic water pipe is this ok its there existing and i wasn't going to change it but just wandered for future reference. Thanks for your advice

Yup agreed no problem.

The regs do dot specify what cables can or cannot be used in any given situation. what they do say is that what ever you do use must comply to the regs. Taken to extemes its possible to wire a fill house in flex.

Ha Ha!

I'm just back from five years in Malaysia: I saw exactly that at a friend's place in Kuala Lumpur. Spurs taken from a 13A ring main for new lights, using 2-core 1.5mm DI flex buried in the plaster, going via a wall switch.

Apparently it's standard ... :)

Just reading this post about wiring in flex.

We done a large 3 storey office block last year in Paris and yes it was all wired in flex apart from sub mains.

You may think that this is something to do with it being abroad but it was actually a job for the FCO all designed constructed and tested to BS 7671 (2008)
