Hi guys need some help with telephone points.

I currently have 1 main point for the phone, which i have an extension plugged in to connect to the alarm.

I need 3 more points for sky tv, what is the best way to wire these, i am an electrician, but have never had an experience with phone lines.

All help and advice appreciated

thanks

Craig

Loads of ways to wire telephone points. Depending on the runs you can just loop the extra points starting from your main one. Or wire two back seperately to the main one, or put a joint box in somewhere...

as long as you parallel up 2,3 and 5, whichever way makes for the easiest cable runs.

you need to conect 2-BLUE
3-ORANGE
5-BLUE\WHITE

BT only bring in 2 wires 2 and 5 but for an extension you need to conect 3 also for the ringer. Hop this HELPS.

With modern phones the connection to terminal 3 (ringer circuit) is not needed and if used could cause interference on an ADSL (broadband) line causing poor internet speed, BT produce a product called an I Plate that disconnects terminal 3 to stop interference, If the line is an ADSL line don't forget you will need microfilters plugged into each socket.
