Had virgin media install an new phone line today, they placed one master socket behind my tv and now my existing Bt phone and slave sockets don't work throughout the rest of the house. To get my other existing phone points to work do I just have to run a cable from my virgin master socket to the existing slave sockets and connect the appropriate wiring up ,

Thanks in advance

Chris

looks like it. just link 2-2 and 5-5 from master to slaves. make sure all the other outlets are slave sockets.

i'm certainly no expert in telephones, but i was led to believe that you might need to introduce a master after every 2/3 slaves if wired in series?

no, and they're wired in parallel. if you wired them in series, i don't think you'd be able to hear auntie bertha wishing you happy birthday. go to the back of the class.

as i know you have to run 3 core cable ( telephone cable , cat5 or 6 ) from master socket to every slave but not on a BT master socket..replace BT master socket with slave socket ..if its possible in parallel but its not a big problem if you run an series..the problem os the series its that you lost signal as fare you go but for the house its not a problem..on the master socket connect number 2 , 3 and 5 to 2, 3 and 5 on slave socket..2 and 5 its for the signals and 3 its for phone ring..

virgin media master socket to bt slave socket to other slave socket..do not mix the virgin cable with bt cable..

Since the introduction of digital exchanges there is no need to connect terminal 3. On installations where ADSL / vDSL broadband is used it is advisable to disconnect terminal 3 as this is known to cause interference and lower data speed

You will have to explain this a bit more as I'm not aware of any issues

I'm confused about this wiring secondary sockets in series?? Daz

Only need the ringer connection for old phones. All modern phones don't need it. Daz

i always connect number 3..but im not specialist on the telephone system..as i know its that what i write on my previous reply and always i do that..

very easy mate..its like a electrical radial circuit..how do you connect 5 sockets on the radial ???..very simple..

Just posting to agree with Daz.
3 is not needed nowadays with modern phones.
Omitting 3 can also improve ADSL line speeds (apparently).
