Hi all, i have decided to enrol on a 2392 course as not currently in the industry. This i hope will give me a good grounding for the 2391 as would like to sit this course too sometime.
My question is i have been reading many testing books and this has just made me wonder how long it actually takes you all to do a PIR and the like, as to me i think it would probably take all day to do one.

Impossible to say really, it can vary wildly depending on type of premesis, size, scope, limitations, disruption, out of hours shutdowns etc etc.

it takes me on a typical 3 bed house with 5 circuits

approx 4 -5 hours providing im not fixing problems i find!

i always set a side half a day to do a small PIR

and some times when there is two of us it takes about 2-3hours!

Stu, is there no way you could spend a bit longer with the books etc. and go straight to a 2391 course instead?

I always allocate a day to do a periodic, maybe 1/2 if a council house or flat. I always spend untill 7 or 8 pm cross referencing regulations and providing the reg no.s with every observation. It may not be necessary, but some key clients of mine require it, so it's habit now.

Agree with widdler etc. we charge a basic fee for checking mains earth/bonding plus so much per circuit.
Usually can't do more than one house per day, unless very low circuit number, even then not much day left over.
