I took a fluorescent down that was dated 1969 the other day, again nothing wrong with it seemed criminal to put it in the skip. There is no way modern stuff will Last that long it's made so it doesn't! Obsolescence is a wonderful thing (for manufacturing)
 
Yes the old stuff lasts a hell of a lot longer.

The only problem is though when they do go, I've seen chokes go up in flames!
