to rcd or not rcd??

doing a small job in a school , we're upgrading lighting and extending some circuits, we might also be running some new circuits.

the customer has asked for a periodic inspection. now the question i have is, after the inspection and remedial work is completed can we leave the old circuits with no RCD and say the installation is satisfactory and complies with bs7671

Depends what circuits dont have RCD protection and also, if they require it.

my main concern is the sockets as children have access to them, ie computers. light switches and fitttings are out of reach.

am i right in saying everything must b rcd protected to comply with latest regs

Not always.

Socket outlets should be RCD protected, but thats not always the case, especially if the cables are surface run and a number of other things are taken into account.

The installation method may be a deciding factor.

depends also on the work you are doing. all your new work has to be to 17th. existing circuits, not touched by you can be left as are, but if non-compliant, should be noted
