Come on it has only been four years, I am sure that the powers that be are just poised to implement the new competence levels over the next year.:laughing::laughing::laughing:
Bah ipf just beat me to it.

even if it did change you can guarantee certsure aka niceic/elecsa would ensure those already on schemes can stay as they would say they have been inspected and demonstrated competence over a number of years and worse case would start knocking out there own nvq equivalent courses like was meant to happen with the QS rules.. with the domestic only 2397 course but instead you can sit a equivalent course online.... there is too much money for lots of people for it to change...

He got his 5 minutes in the lime light,
Good little PR stunt guaranteed to get media,
And that's what it's all about.
You don't really believe they care about the people do you ?

This is what is described as a five week wonder course? It seems pretty thorough to me!
Vorty, it seems after reading that everything on the course is described as "understanding this and that" can't see anywhere what actually teaches you how to do things, and from the looks of the title description it is, to me anyway a course maybe for a QS type role, put me right if you feel my thoughts are way off. On relectionit's a DI course not an Electricians course. by the way to tailor your response, I am very much biased against short courses as you may have guessed, there are of course exceptions to the rule, I would be daft not to understand that, may be far to long in the tooth for these new ways, to late to change my views now.:):p:confused::eek::oops::rolleyes:

I suppose in someways you could say this about those who carry the NVQ too in a certain way.

Someone who’s spent the last few yr knocking out houses would probably to a degree be more competent then someone who’s worked on 3 phase and industrial for the same amount of time.

Everyone is going to be different or competent in their own way.

teaches you how to do things
In the beginning of the document it does say this course is for people who have worked on electrotechnical installations "...in excess of 24 months..." Hence they will have had direct experience of installation teaching/practice. It also requires a portfolio of actual physical installations and there are practical fault finding tests on rigs.

I'll agree, to a degree, believe it or not.......everyone is different........but not bleedin' competent.
