Im looking for anyone who has used these new threadless conduit couplers. You dont need to thread conduit anymore 20mm,25mm even 32mm you just cut the conduit and push the couplers on its so fast its great. Has anyone used them and found a down side ?

Never used them but i think i will stick to the old school stocks & dies

Sorry Lenny the cost is a couple quid each but the time i saved out weigh the cost and the hassel of the bending machine and dies then clearing up it was a case of cut and push and finish, to me they are heavenly

Amazing!!! .....If thread-less conduit was going to be any good, don't you think that it would have been utilised and developed by now??? It hasn't been utilised to any extent or developed beyond gimmick form, because it doesn't work to the levels that a threaded system can, and that's the truth of the matter!!!

Been given more than a few various samples to approve over the years, to be honest whether they rely on push-fit alone or via securing set screw, the connections have always wobbled around like a good-un. ...Absolute crap, if your intending to use as an alternative to a conventional conduit system....

Thanks for your opinion!!! Sounds like you have had a lot of bad experience`s and will be threaded a conduit a bit more.
Cheers

and nobody's yet mentioned poor continuity! that's the biggie. suppose it's OK to use for alarms by installers that can't use "proper" conduit and fittings. ( no disrespect to proper alarm engineers btw )

Continuity perfect as it goes and elecsa and eca gave me the green light on the system as i had worries to. But as no one can can give me a good enough reason to go back to threading so far looks like it a go for me. Cheers Lads

Having used them on a few of my installs the time they save is beneficial.
Due to the time saved I was asked to install the same system on other sites
They conform to BSEN standard and have an IP67 rating.

Its ticks all the right boxes and saves valuable install time. IT’S A NO BRAINER TO ME?

Hi RWJ

IP67?? ....This i gotta see!! So show us the link to this super metal system conduit??

Sorry i might be getting the wrong end of the stick, i came on here to ask a question and all i get from you a Respected Member is sarcasm. If im wrong sorry but it looks like it from here.

Maybe just me, ...lol!!! The thing is that i'm seeing many times on UK forums the acceptance of gimmick idea's on conventional systems that are not upto scratch, but because there quicker to install requires minimal to no skill, there suddenly better than the conventional system.

In this case, the standard galv threaded conduit system, that's been around longer than me or any other forum member. My point is that i've had main contractors pass me more than a few samples at various times for approval to be used on my projects. None of those push-fit or set screw conduit systems were worth a light, the connections, be they couplings or boxes were at best sloppy fits, they were certainly not rigid or anywhere near conforming to IP 67!!! There may well be yet another system that's recently hit the market, ....until i see the blurb, and physically put 2 bits of conduit together without it wobbling around, then i'll be sticking to my own experience of these conduit systems.
