Two Ovens, One Cable

As my customer didn't know what double oven they wanted I installed a 40A MCB and 6mm twin and earth. When I returned for the second fix they have installed two ovens. One is a single oven (3.65kw 16A) and the other is a microwave/grill/oven (3.45kw 16A). So what is the best way to connect both with one supply? The first idea I had was to use a 45A DP Switch and wire both ovens to this. Ideally, I would like to isolate each one separately. Has anyone any suggestions?

I think you are over complicating matters.... Single isolation point for both will be fine

2.5mm cable is good for 32A,
So that cable could supply both units together,
Unless you have any down rating.

I tend to wire these on a socket and plug top (single socket for each) as one you apply diversity the loading usually drops to below 10amps. Don't know what model you have though could be a particular large single oven ??????? This would mean some kind of joint as sockets won't take two 6mm obviously lol

MK sockets will allow x2 6mm cables

I must say I had exactly this situation a few weeks ago, and I put 2 DP switches off the single 6mm cable, one for each oven. However, afterwards I thought it was probably unnecessary, and as Murdoch says a single switch is fine. You have to consider what the switch is for, it only to turn the oven off in an emergency. If one of them fails an electrician will have to disconnect it properly anyway, they are just switches not isolators.

Not too sure about using plug & socket for cooking appliances, unless they come attached or the manufacturers say they can be so connected. What do the MI state?

I take your point but would like to add would never use a plug and socket on anything like a hob or double oven ect just single ovens and combination microwave as these tend to either come with a plug or a piece of 1.5 flex fitted.
