You could always just break the switch live from the light switch to fan through a pull cord with a neon and put it beside it, that way they'l know which is which

Depending on how this works.... You would have to have something like a T flip-flop for position 1 (Light), then another T-flip-flop for postion 2 (Fan) and then position 3 resets both T-flip-flops.
Spon, that's not a 3-way momentary switch. It is a 3-pole fan isolation switch. One pull for on, one pull for off.

It is a 3 pole isolator.I'm not sure how this switch works. It might work the way you want.. You could always ask them the question.
