Hi all,

Not trying to push/promote sales etc, just a serious question really to try to gauge market demand.

Without getting into the discussions of whether you do or don't need an RCD device to protect the PV installation (quite happy to discuss off-line if people wish to), what is the general opinion on demand for RCDs to be fitted? In particular, TypeB devices......

We are looking to bring a supply-line of these products on board and I am keen to obtain your feedback on whether this would be useful or not.

Thanks in advance,

Andy

My opinion is it would be a good thing to offer. Doepke was advertising one in Practical Electrician this month and it caught my eye. We haven't installed a TL inverter yet due to the cost and availability of the Type B RCD and bonding array etc.

Thanks Mark. Yes, does seem to be a hot topic at the moment. I think Doepke are working closely with the likes of SMA to and the DTI to try to clarify some existing "grey areas" in the IEEE/MCS guidelines so it will be interesting to learn what comes out of that in the near future.

Bonding arrays - that's another hot topic!

Cheers

Andy,
What the heck have the IEEE to do with UK electrical installs?
Have I missed something somwhere with regard to Solar PV?
I know I have not yet gone down the route myself, but I am looking into it and they have not yet shown up in any of my research as having any "jurisdiction", "authority" or "influence" on the UK installation requirements???!!!
Please explain!

Sounds good Morgan! We're moving towards having them available very soon, updates will be posted on our website and on here when we do. In the meantime, I'm trying to understand as much as I can about the technical side.
