Hi.

Scottish Power upgrade incoming power cable to 3 phase. What was surprise me is they dig a hole in pavement and connected to existing cable. Should I be surprised? All cable, from connection point is 4 meter long and 1.5 meter is inside the building with easy access.

So they upgraded from singly phase to three phase and used a section of the old single phase cable....????

so the cable under the pavement is 3 phase. what's the question?

well if the original supply was single phase, it would be.

Customer require 3 phase. They connected to the cable outside the building under pavement. Give me one reason why they couldn't connected inside building if they have a lot of space to do it.

Then get your customer to ask Scottish Power to explain their actions, if you are confident that the service cable was of adequate type (4 core) and size and of suitable length....

Well if the DNO bite back, i hope your client has the wherefore all to take on a public utility company!! I would have been more inclined to have gone to the ombudsman organisation, (or whatever it's called these days) in the first instance....
