anything of value left on the van is chained and padlocked. will stop all but the most determined. an alarm system is a good idea as well. at least if it's outside your house, you will hear the alarm.

I had a van vault which was screwed to the floor of the van and they ripped it out and took the lot.

your best bet is to drill holes in the bottom off the van-vault and bolt it down.

be careful which locks you go for, anyone can buy lockpicks cheap online so its best to take all valubles off if possible or if not research locks first.

the last lock you want to buy is one they can open easily

get tool insurance with your PLI. that way, at least you can replace what's been nicked.

Unlucky mate. I have had my van done several times 4 times outside my house and I do not live in a high crime area so I am told. so what I do now is I take my tools in doors every night (drives the old woman crazy) and I leave the van unlocked at least it stops the F-----S damaging the locks to look inside. I have to admit my van is not new so this works for me.

if van vault does not stop them then you havent got more choice than carry them second floor every day mate.
only i can think of is a domestic wireless yale alarm wired in the van, after opening you have to enter the code otherwise it starts to be noisy, and you come downstairs with a sledgehammer. make some enclosure so they cant smash it in a second.

local council in my area is beign right pain in the a**/back. they say my van is too big for a parking permit, have to keep it outside the controlled zone a mile away, means tools back home everyday...

I have a cool solution for you, I can design you a car alarm circuit linked to your mobile. If anyone breaks in I can get it to call your mobile, or any two other peolpe. All you need a good quailty baseball batt!

It's terrible! Any chance you park you van in view of a window of yours for internal CCTV?

Maybe, if you buy another van vault - have it welded to your van floor.

but I think it's time we look at our vans too.
