VAT rates

Hi

I know that VAT is to be charged at 5% for domestic but is it the normal 20% on commercial installations?

My accountant has told me that we have to charge 20% for commercial installations

I don't do solar etc which guessing at where you posted is what you mean 5% on solar for private individuals??

Happy to stand corrected - I thought it was 5% but I haven't done, thought I'd read recently it was 5% but could be making it up!!

Rinf HMRC and check with them - I'd value their advice on VAT rates more than I'd value mine!!

HM Revenue & Customs: Building and construction work and VAT here you go - charities are 5% if it's for non busines sor community use otherwise it's 20% and reclaimable.

Thought 5% was the VAT you paid for your electricity/gas you buy from your supplier?

and on renewable energy installations for domestic and some charitable installations.

Just done a community centre, charged 5%, yes 20% for commercial.
