Hello

I have got a job - to put another wall light between two existing wall lights. as seen on the diagram attached, i have two routes. Route 1 - to simply chase horizontally along the wall to the situation of the new wall light, or route 2 - create a junction box in the cieling and run a vertical chase down the wall. doing route 2 would involve pulling up carpets etc so not as practical.
which route is better - 1 or 2?
Can't see any drawing, Barnaby?

I think the best method here is your route 2.
Lift the carpet, lift a floor board, connect the new wall light cable to the existing wall light cable via a junction box.
Chop the new wall light cable vertically down to the new wall light position.

EDIT...sorry Pete, your suggestion may also be viable, it is just not how I would go about it.

Route 2 means less disruption to the wall and only leaves one cable to connect into a small wall light. It also prevents the possibility of someone drilling the cable whilst putting up a picture of little Jonny. Chopping cables horizontally is permitted but leaves the chance of them being drilled I think?

Other peoples thoughts are welcomed.
