hi
Very new to the forum and sorry for stupid question but need help.
I did my city & guilds to level 3 2365-03 at my local college and was lucky straight after the course I got a job for a domestic electrical company for past two years as an electrical installer. I plan to leave and went to apply for a ecs card but was a bit shocked to find I cannot get an installer gold card as my level 3 c & g 2365 is not enough and it has to be an nvq level 3 which I never seem to be advised of. I found nvq level 3 available but seems to be the whole complete course which doesn't take into account what I have done so far.
My question is, is there an add on to my c & g 2365.3 so I am eligible to the nvq level 3 and enable me to get a Ecs electrical installer gold card and if so where is best place to go

As far as I know there is no add-on to that course which replaces the NVQ.

The JIB set the requirement that you must be fully qualified and have a number of years experience to be graded as an electrician.
I think is still an option where it's possible that by proving your experience and with the support of an employer you can be given the grade without the NVQ.

If the latest new from the NICEIC is to be believed then if you are a NICEIC / Elecsa QS (it implied it also covers DI) then you are automatically entitled to a gold card, just need to do the H&S test.

Does your company need you to have a gold card? You could always get a white ECS Card.

if you need a Gold Card then you'll need your 2365, an NVQ Level 3, an AM2 and possibly a 17th Edition qualification.
You can get your NVQ done with XS Training but book the Am2 by yourself since you can get it cheaper.

There are alternative routes as suggested in #2 if you can get your employer along with a colleague who already holds a JIB card preferably at Technician level to vouch your experience, competence etc. I have done this twice for people and they have been successful but you will not be able to escape the 17th Ed qualification.

it does seem now that if you have been a QS with the same firm for 3 consecutive assessments that you can get a gold card from jib.. worth knowing.

Essentially you need 3 clean assessments as a qs or meet the criteria in the second link i posted above.

I'm pretty sure that it is explicitly stated that it will NOT bear the name/logo of the JIB on an ECS card issued in this fashion.
