Wow I didn't realise it was worth anything, it's nearly thirty years old and had a hard life with me as a marine engineer back then.

To give you some idea, here are the leads I used on the big motor starters, gensets and batteries. Really heavy duty Crock clips. Fluke 83 is one tough multimeter.

Yea old flukes are about the only old meter to hold value. I guess it's just brand recognition and a good reputation. If it's well used value might be closer to £50. I've just finished repairing a batch including some 77s (1981) that are older than me and the last repairable one of the batch is an 83 like yours with a broken LCD broken input jack and missing its yellow holster. I've got 5 meters to sell at the minute so only looking for (cheap) spares/repair.
Gritty handwash will clean up your holster quickly.

No I don't think you could make a living from it to be honest, I'm just a hobbyist trying to cover the cost of new toys. I bought a job-lot of broken meters off Ebay as a challenge and I managed to repair 4 of the Flukes, 5 if I come across a screen.

Impressive display that you have. Is your hobby electronics?.This is how my meter survived in my bag.
