I've been asked to install and American TIG welder in a workshop at a site where i do some more normal commercial works.

The Welder requires a 400v Supply (no problem as TP supply nearby) but the current DB is a Hager unit for whichi can only find max MCB's of 63A. this welder requires something closer to 80A per phase.

My thoughts we're can i split the supply feed prior to the DB (or drop extra feeds out the bottom of the DB incomer) and send a second set of feeds into a TP 100A Switch Fuse ? this would then in turn run 25mm 3 core SWA (10 metres max) and down to a another Switched Disconnect located closer to the Welder and then hardwired into this?

or have a missed something vital or even overcomplicating things?

FFYI - the welder is a Miller Syncrowave 351 and the manual can be found here 351 Manual

This needs to be done friday evening after the workshop has closed to minimise downtime.

Cheers in advance!

All sorted now.

Basically it's a 2 phase welder. It requires two phases (live) at 80A rated and then an earth. The supply board has a maximum Amp of 63A per phase MCB. So it cannot handle the current. The manufacturer suggested either exchanging the welder for an Invertor 3 phase version which runs at a meagre 13a per Line or replace the DB with one which can handle higher loads.

Appreciate the help though.
