Hey all,

I am new to the electrical work and have just completed my college -

2330 lvl 2
2330 lvl 3
2382 (BS:7671)
2377 (Pat Testing)
Soon to complete 2392 (Monday 11th July) and 2391 (Sept 2011)

I have heard JIB card talked about round college but not really got a proper understanding of this.

I am currently working with my father to gain relevant experience.

Cheers
Ashley

It's a card that carries a specific grade depending on your industry qualifications.

Many of the larger commercial and industrial contractors will not use non-JIB graded labour, it's their way of ensuring a defined level of competence for the workforce.

Their grading criteria is listed here: http://www.jib.org.uk/index.htm

It's a number of things
1-ECS card which is the electrical version of a CSCS card which you need to get on most sites.
2-Shows your grading via your qualifications which to get an electricians card you also need a NVQ3 otherwise you only get graded as an improver/trainee
3-It also has your qualification on the back so you can show this to an employer without having to carry all your certs around with you.

Thanks very much guys, cleared up some confusion.

If say working abroad (America, Canada, Europe) would this card be recognised?

Cheers
