Just been viewing a post regarding three phase testing, the questions asked about IR testing a TP&N socket and how to IR test a TP Motor, with questions about Neutrals, this was an AM2 query.
Got to thinking after I made a laborious answer, regarding the Motor, now here is my query, when doing an EICR or an EIC should we include the Motor itself? or now here's the kicker, should Motors be subjected to a separate ISITEE regime? Grateful for your thoughts, my thoughts as a Motor is a Power consuming bit of kit, and not part of the fixed wiring, why are training are Schools teaching this motor testing as part of their curriculum? after all they don't include, household white goods, hand dryers etc, motors are no different, or am I over thinking this?

Just to clarify, the motor circuit in the AM2, is TP with a neutral brought in to the starter.

When testing the cct you are expected to disconnect at the motor terminals and also link out or test both sides of the dol starter.

Thanks, think that may clear up my question, wish someone had said that to begin with though. I did wonder why the OP asked about IR testing a motor. Food for thought?

A motor should be subject to specific motor maintenance and testing and not included in any EICR or EIC. ISITEE could be a description but motors are not covered by the COP and different testing and maintenance procedures are required.
The AM2 is only covering a circuit supplying a motor not the motor itself.
