My claim to odd thing I have eaten, came from a job in Syria, we were out for an ethnic meal one evening, about 6 of us none of us could speak the lingo, so we basically managed to order our food, I found the round items quite tasty, till the morning when speaking to the Local Girls in the office, what I had eaten wsa Goats Gonads (Testicals) wondered why they were hiding under their head coverings when they were telling us what we had eaten. There you go Sparky Chick was this the sort of thing you had in mind?

It wasn't me talking about a new thread :)

But... I can't compete with goat balls, but it was weird none the less... when I was in Magnitogorsk, the clients (the former state owned store chain, at the time called Univermag if I recall correctly) provided lunch.

A cold platter of meat, peas and other stuff. It was completely covered in about 1/4" of jelly like you find in pork pies.

Nothing too extreme.
In France on holiday, and I don't speak French.
Read on the menu about a cheese burger, my wife says a word means goat.... it must be goats cheese
It wasn't. it was goats meat. Lovely though

Sorry SC thought it was

A few at work got taken out by a customer. The starter was pickled chickens feet. I had to try it. It's not good.

Crikey, what type of nosher were you taken to?

It was a big Chinese restaurant. The other courses were really good.
I do like to try new foods. That's why, in another thread, I was asking about haggis. Only has one that was rubbish, but my mum won it at bingo.. :tearsofjoy:

Got taken out for Lunch by some Russians we were doing some work for, (mid 80sso still a Comunist regime all legal by the way) the Guy who was our interpreter, said we should try Uzbekistan Kebab, I thought Kebab, can't be that bad, like eating a Rissole with no meat init, had to eat it, otherwise it would have offended our host, bluudy awful.

I have tried chicken feet and fish eyes, neither I would want to try again. Trotters are pretty good, and I'm a fan of most things offal.

Well...parents are from Lancashire stock,so pig's trotters,tripe,steak and cowheel stew,sheeps jowls,etc,are standard fare.

Pals are from Gypsy stock,so guddled eel and trout, and hotchiwichy (hedgehog) are normal...

Eaten some strange stuff working abroad, but, had an incident in Israel, where we had kebabs given to us,and after finishing, the natives made a big wheeze out of the fact it was cat...
It didn't have the desired effect,as i had eaten it many times before,at me pals grandads,as a kid.

He always had one in the freezer...they look just like a rabbit, skinned, until you get to the head.

He had been a sapper in the army, and stayed on in France, after liberation,to clear routes, munition dumps, etc, and the locals treated them like royalty, cooking all their meals...but supplies were short,so...

He got a taste for it,and the neighbourhood had an increase in mice activity ;)

Funny thing is,i would eat one today, but would not touch a Mac offering, believing it to be rubbish

apart from accidentally eating some fish as a kid, being told it was chicken, then tried some tripe. that was like chewing on a condom. YUK. i'd rather eat crows picked fresh from my nose than eat fish.
