Never have I or anyone I have ever worked with come across a refrigerator or a freezer responsible for a tripping RCD.

Come on Neil you was always a better fisherman than that.Never have I or anyone I have ever worked with come across a refrigerator or a freezer responsible for a tripping RCD.
Complete myth.
Don't speak too soon there'll be a photo on the forum soon.Sprinkler circuits are omitted too.
I don't read the regs book that much but i was sure that circuits passing through Zones 1 and 2 of a wet room need to be RCD protected as well as those supplying them.
Although I've yet to see cooker circuit trunked through a shower cubicle.
do you mean loony mares?come the 18th all circuits with "lumimaires" need rcd protection..
Also feeds to subsidiary CBs (to avoid daisy-chained RCDs).
