Wiha speedE - any views

Anyone using this bit of kit? Wondered if anyone uses a small low torque screwdriver or similar for things like socket or switch plates especially if the screws are really long.

Seen it, but the price is ridiculous for what it is. You could get a similar tool for pence in comparison.

I use a cheap green Bosch drill driver for 2nd fixing if I have a lot to do - actually bought it as a second drill for the house when I was building my shed cause my mate didn’t have a drill at the time so thought it would speed things along I ended up using the Bosch and relegating my trusty old makita to the darkest depths of the van only wish I hadn’t been so tight and bought the one with two batteries instead of the one you plug the charger in the handle. Must say though I’m mighty impressed it’s had some amount of abuse and it’s never let me down the battery life ain’t the greatest but like anything else every thing has it’s place I’ve found it’s brilliant just go really slow at the end and you feel when to let go
buy a little Bosch but make sure it has two batteries

If i ever wake up,and reach for a cordless shoe lace knotter...i will be calling it a day,the old fashioned way...on the back of a shark,loaded with explosive,fired in to a volcano ...

wait! isn’t there an app for that? In most circumstances I’d agree with you and use the screwdriver but when you’ve got a hell of a lot of sockets/switches to screw up it’s a godsend.

Never really got on with drills and drivers for doing up screws, can never get the torque right. By the time you get it out, set it up and frig around I've got it done by manual screwdriver.

Have heard very underwhelmed reviews at best, mainly due to expecting a lot more for the price. Heard of people sending them back too.

Thanks Mate, yes they are very expensive, I have a small Black and Decker one 10 Quid Band Q, not a torque job just a small electric driver

Wiha stuff is expensive , just checked it out on Amazon they are extracting the pzzz, 270 quid plus. I'm a Tool Tart I know, but stuff that for a game of Soldiers.

Cheaper direct from our German neighbours, but still out of my consideration for a battery powered screwdriver.

I just got some elastic shoe laces for my work shoes, 'cos I have to slip me shoes on & off dependant on whose carpets I'm walking on...……..

I got one almost immediately after pete posted his ''ultimate toolporn" post a good six months back. Ordered from Germany as were not available here at the time. Paid £220 ish for it, and got 18 euros cashback.
My view is that it has its uses. It's light and very compact. Battery lasts ages. It's vde which can be useful. It is particulary useful in tight spots I have found and my forearm aches are a little less than they were. Or maybe that was due to it coming into summer and my aches are something else medical..
Main issues with it are:
Poor power (which I expected to some degree). Wiha dress it up in my opinion as 'material protection' or something like that. I think they put as much power as they feasibly could into it, realised it was fairly weak, and then came up with the 'material protection' advertising gumph.
Other big issue is mine stopped bloody well working. At the minute it is somewhere in transit coming back to me from Germany apparently. But Wihas customer service and very poor communications have put me right off them. It's been gone for around 2 wks now.
Would I buy one now knowing what I know? Yes but only for around £150 maybe.
Here is my Amazon review, one star is a little harsh though. I did that when I was irked! 2 maybe 3 stars for the tool itself due to its price.

Edit:
I initially contacted Wiha on 24th October and sent the tool back in early November. Not a very professional service. Bosch and Makita it would be back within a week or less fixed.

For lightweight work like fascia plate screws this would work well. Not sure why you'd buy it from in the UK but maybe Banggood
