Discuss wireing in a loft in the Australia area at ElectriciansForums.net

but, how then do you secure the running boards when they are on top of a foot of insulation?

Does a loft that's been insulated so deep that you can't determine the joists to safely move around not then become classed as an inaccessible void? Are trip hazards and damage risks caused by cables laying on the surface of such insulation now not irrelevant in much the same way as cables may lie unsupported on a concrete sub-floor? I'm all for making a good job of things, but where's the regulation that says cables must be clipped to joists under insulation?

there;s only 1 way to insulate a loft. kingspan or similar under the roof, between the roof rafters. all this chucking mega thicki fibreglass in top of everything is just a cheap, quick sap to government directives to stop the planet dying HA>HA. stopping cows farting would put man's puny efforts well into the shade.

I havent read the whole thread, however, i do believe BS7671 requires cables to be fixed sufficiently so that they do not cause damage to themselves by their own weight.

I think.
